Hello. I’m Elissa Kagan, Corporate Counsel & Compliance Officer for REALTY WORLD, INC. and I’d like to introduce my new column. It’s called “What Do I Do?’ and each month it will answer a frequently asked question. The objective is to keep everyone informed about our policies and procedures.

Each question and all the previous questions will also be published on The Insider as the Compliance FAQ link on the left panel in the Broker Portal.
The question for this month is:
What do I do if I want to change the name of my office?
The first step is to get approval from corporate. You will need to print the “Consent to Use REALTY WORLD Marks with D.B.A. / Domain Name” form. You can find this form on The Insider in the Compliance FAQ. Complete the form, sign and date it, and fax it to the corporate office, 714-436-9010, Attention: Elissa.
We will notify you of the approval or disapproval of your request. Please remember:
• Under normal circumstances, we do not approve names that include geographical locations. For example, Realty World Chicago would not be allowed. The name cannot be similar to other names used in the same geographic location.

• Once the name is approved by corporate, we will send you a copy of the executed Consent form.
• No fees are required.
• After you have obtained corporate approval, then you can proceed with any local or state filing or registration requirements.

• If I want to change office locations?
• If I want to set up a web site for my office?
• If I want to register a new domain name?
• If I want to get a business partner?
• If a third party asks me to be a broker for their office?
• If I want to use a vendor who is not on the approved list?
• If my outdoor sign or my For Sale signs are not compliant with the corporate logo?
• If I see someone in my market using something very similar to our logo or marketing tools?
• If I lose my broker of record?
